• Question: what should I do if I believe someone I know is showing all the signs of a mental illness?

      I can’t tell you what you should do, but I can tell you what I would do. I would point to the person the symptoms that I see (for example, if their memory is poor, they can’t concentrate etc) and I would strongly encourage them to talk to their GP.

      This can be very serious and it is great that you are looking out for your friend. In the first instance, it is important that you speak to a responsible adult to voice your concern as soon as possible. This could be a teacher, school nurse, or your parents. They should be aware of the necessary next steps to take.
