Dementia is the progressive loss of thinking skills. People with dementia experience memory loss, they are slower at doing things, they can’t focus easily etc. The brain changes functionally (e.g., loss of memory) and also structurally (e.g., loss of grey matter). So, the brain shrinks and as a consequence people lose their ability to remember, pay attention, and do things fast.
