      That’s a great question that has interested many scientists over the last decade. There are studies emerging that find that daydreaming is beneficial. One possible explanation is that daydreaming gives you the opportunity to reflect on your experiences, integrate them with what you have known before, and lets you come up with novel solutions.

      From a brain perspective, daydreaming is linked to activity in a network of areas that become active when we are not engaged in another activity. This is called the default mode network. It seems to be really important, because differences in this network have been found in a number of disorders.
