Psychology is very broad discipline, so different areas of psychology can help the brain in different ways. I’m a cognitive psychologist, and I’m interested in the way people’s thinking skills (e.g., memory, attention etc) are affected as we age. Older people tend to have poorer memories than younger people for example. I’m trying to find ways to make older people’s memory better. Does it get better if they exercise? If they eat healthy? If they sleep enough? I don’t know yet! If I find out then by making their memory better their brain will be better (at least in terms of memory).
