It is very difficult to explain a feeling as the same thing may be perceived very differently by different people. Some women experience emotional symptoms (e.g., being cranky) and also physical symptoms (e.g., sharp pain in the abdomen), while other women may not experience any symptoms.

Once I participated in an experiment that investigated pain perception. Very briefly the experimenter used needles of various sizes (tiny hairlike needles to very big ones) to prickle my hand, and I had to rate the feeling on a scale (0=no pain-10=extreme pain). Apparently, I was an exception as I didn’t feel any pain at any point (high pain threshold). Most of her participants would be somewhere in the middle (normal pain threshold), and very few would feel perhaps too much pain (low pain threshold). Bottom line: people feel the world in different ways.
