0 Question: why do aneurysms develop in our brain? Keywords: aneurysm Asked by Dylan to Iroise on 18 Nov 2016.
Iroise Dumontheil answered on 18 Nov 2016:
This is not my specialty, but aneurysms can occur in different parts of the body too, they are a bulging weak area in the wall of an artery and if they rupture they can cause a bleed in the brain, which damages the local brain cells.
There is more information on brain aneurysms here: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/aneurysm/Pages/Introduction.aspx
It seems that the cause of them can be smoking, high blood pressure, as well as genetic predispositions.
